Inver Glen Library events

Celebrate National Library Week at Inver Glen Library.

Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave E., will host a kids program presented by Artistry called “Tie-Dyeing with Sharpies” on Tuesday, April 12, from 3 to 4 p.m. Participants should bring a white T-shirt, socks, pillowcase or other cloth item for creating their own work of tie-dye art. Registration required. This activity is open to kids ages 10 to16.

Dakota County master gardener Gail Maifeld will be at Inver Glen Library on Tuesday, April 12, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for “Butterfly Gardening.” She will discuss how to create a vibrant garden that supports the lifecycle of butterflies, requires minimal soil and garden preparation, and will bloom not only in the summer, but the fall as well. 

Inver Glen will have a special “Spring Planting, Summer Blooming” storytime with The Story Man from England on Thursday, April 14, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Youngsters will make an imaginary garden and have fun in this interactive storytelling program that encourages outdoor physical play. This event is open to kids ages 2 to 8.

Storytime for Babies will take place Friday, April 15, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Stories, songs, bounces and playtime make this storytime perfect for children newborn to 24 months and their caregivers. 

ArtStart will host Inventor’s Workshop on Saturday, April 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Inver Glen Library. Kids will use tape, glue, wire and a variety of useful scraps to create their own invention. Registration required. This event is open to children ages 6 to 12. 

Kids will be reading to certified therapy dogs during Waggin’ Tales on Saturday, April 16, from 11 a.m. to noon at Inver Glen Library. This program is not only fun, it helps develop reading skills and fluency. The activity is open to kids ages 5 to 10.

Community Auction Family Night

On Friday, April 15, and Saturday, April 16, St. Thomas Academy, 949 Mendota Heights Road, Mendota Heights, will host the Community Auction Family Night. 

The Community Auction is a two-day event with activities for people of all ages to enjoy. On Friday, Family Night will include a variety of events to keep kids of all ages entertained. From 6 to 8 p.m., there will be games, including the popular Heads ‘n’ Tails game, a trench ball tournament and cake walks. There will be food and a silent auction. There is no cost for this event.

On Saturday, April 16, the black-tie optional Auction Gala will offer a gourmet meal catered by the St. Paul Hotel, served at 7:15 p.m. There will be a silent auction from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring items such as premium sporting tickets, hotel stays, county club memberships and more. This evening ends with a live auction including phenomenal trips and other exciting items. Tickets are $150 per person. 5k Run/Walk/Bike

Team Mutomo from Visitation School will host its annual 5k Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, April 16 as a fundraiser for the group’s trip to Africa in June. New this year: ride your bike. Students in grade five or younger are invited to ride their bikes along the course if they wear a helmet and are accompanied by an adult. 

The Fun Run/Walk/Bike will take place at 10 a.m., starting and ending at Visitation, 2455 Visitation Drive, Mendota Heights. The cost per person is $25 before race day, and $30 on race day. Everyone who signs up with receive a Team Mutomo T-shirt and snacks. Visit www.visitation.net/teammutomo to register. Registration closes on Friday, April 15. 

 

Rummage and bake sale

Saint Paul’s United Methodist Women are holding their annual spring rummage sale and bake sale on Saturday, April 16, at Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church, 700 Wesley Lane, Mendota Heights. Doors open at 9 a.m., and the sales conclude at 1 p.m. 

Proceeds will help fund mission projects locally, nationally and internationally. The church is located north of the intersection of Highway 110 and Dodd Road. For further information, contact the church office at 651-452-5683.

 

Inver Grove Heights dog clinic

On Saturday, April 16, from noon to 2 p.m., Inver Grove Heights will offer a dog license and rabies vaccination clinic. 

To obtain a dog license in Inver Grove Heights, pet owners must provide proof of rabies vaccination. The clinic will be held at the Public Works Maintenance Facility, 8168 Barbara Ave E., and is open to Inver Grove Heights residents and their dogs, and no RSVP is required. Cost for unaltered dogs is $20, and spayed/neutered dogs is $12. 

 

Salad luncheon and inspirational speaker 

Circle of Friends of St. Patrick Church, 3535 72nd St. E., Inver Grove Heights, will host a salad luncheon for women on Saturday, April 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 

The guest speaker will be Nancy Jo Sullivan, a popular local author and inspirational speaker.

Cost is $15, and there will be a variety of salads and desserts. Reservations preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.
