Child protection and safety presentation

The Oakdale Police Department is hosting a presentation about safety concerns children and teens face today, and how to talk to children about their personal safety in a positive way. This presentation will take place Oct. 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Oakdale city council chambers, 1584 Hadley Ave. N. This event is open to the public, but please RSVP by Sept. 28 to Michelle.Stark@ci.oakdale.mn.us or 651-702-5204.


Drive-In(side) movie

Maplewood Mall will present a Drive-In(side) movie for children and families on Friday, Sept.16 from 5 to 8 p.m. on the upper level near Sears. Guests will be welcomed by a build-your-own-car station, where they will construct their own “drive-in” vehicles. Once the wheels are set, attendees will enjoy popcorn, juice boxes and a special showing of The Jungle Book on the big screen. Tickets to the Maplewood Mall Drive-In(side) event are free, but reservations are requested on the Facebook event page at www.facebook.com/events/524644314394804/.


Overwintering ornamentals

The Washington County Horticulture Society will meet September 19 at 7 p.m. Our program will be “Overwintering Ornamentals” presented by Master Gardener Barbara Ronningen. Come and learn how to keep those beautiful summer plants alive through the winter for next year’s display. The Washington County Horticulture Society meets at Hope Church, 7910 15th St. N., Oakdale. Oakdale Wellness 50+ presents a sampler

The Oakdale Wellnes 50+ group is offering a wellness sampler at the Oakdale Discovery Center, 4444 Hadley Ave. N. Stop by on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 10:30 a.m. to noon to experience tai chi, zumba gold and chair yoga. Cub Foods will offer flu shots, so be sure to bring your insurance card, and as always, fitness evaluations will be offered.
