Explore classics through the UNW Faculty Artist Series

Share an afternoon with the Alpine String Quartet, while they explore the musical passions of Beethoven, Gershwin’s tenderness, and the tragic tone of Schubert. The Alpine String Quartet features University of Northwestern cellist Diane Tremaine with violinists Elizabeth Decker and Carolyn Boulay, and Emily Hagen on viola. The event will take place at Nazareth Chapel on the school’s campus in Arden Hills on Thursday, Nov. 10 from 12:50-2:05 p.m. Visit to order tickets. 


Eagles Club holds bake sale in New Brighton

The New Brighton Eagles Club is having a bake sale Saturday, Nov. 12, starting at 9 a.m. Proceeds from the event will go to the Eagles’ scholarship fund. All are welcome to attend, enjoy a caramel roll and a free cup of coffee with family and friends and also think about buying something to take home. The Eagles Club is located at 563 Old Highway 8 N.W. in New Brighton. For more information, call 651-636-9525.


Eat pancakes, support athletics 

The St. Odilia Men’s Club will be hosting an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13 in the church’s gym. Prices  are $7.00 for adults, $5.00 for kids 5-12, and kids under 5 canenjoy the event for free. All of the profits are used to support the athletic department. The church is located at 3495 N. Victoria St. in Shoreview.


‘Growing Grapes in Minnesota’ talk to take place Nov. 15

The Lake Owasso Garden Club will be hosting a Ramsey County Master Gardener on Monday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of the Way, 3382 Lexington Avenue N. in Shoreview. The presentation will be on “Growing Grapes in Minnesota.” For more information, call 651-647-9034.


Turkey Bingo on Nov. 18

The Saint Odilia Men’s Club is hosting a Turkey Bingo event Friday Nov. 18 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at 3495 N. Victoria Shoreview. The event will be held in the church’s gym and prizes include turkeys and cash.


Fall Festival in Mounds View set for Nov. 12

On Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cross of Glory will hold its annual Fall Festival. This year it will feature a Do It Yourself photo booth where people can take their own photos in a Winter Wonderland setting. Santa will be on hand for photos from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There wont be a photographer as people can bring their own cameras or smartphones to use.

There will also be vendors, raffles, crafts, a cake walk, kids’ games, grandma’s attic and baked goods.

The church is located at 5472 Adams Street in Mounds View found on County Road I a short distance west of Highway 35W and Pinewood Elementary.

Folks can enjoy coffee cake and coffee from 9-11 a.m. and a sloppy joe lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
