Blake Huffman

Journey Home Minnesota founder and Ramsey County Commissioner Blake Huffman was recognized for his work with the non-profit with a Finance & Commerce Progress Award.

Huffman started Journey Home Minnesota nine years ago with the goal of providing permanent, supportive housing to help rebuild the lives of low to moderate income-level veterans, their families, and domestic violence survivors. Creating a stable home environment can significantly and positively impact the quality of life for some of the most vulnerable people.

To date, 40 homes have been completed with the objective of 15 additional homes to be completed in the next year, while simultaneously growing Journey Home into a statewide organization.

Now in its sixth year, the Finance & Commerce Progress Awards recognize outstanding individuals, companies, and institutions that drive business and economic development across Minnesota in distinct ways. A panel of independent judges who specialize in economic development chose this year’s recipients. Huffman is one of four individuals receiving an award.

All awardees were honored at a program on April 6 at the Minneapolis Event Center. Huffman is county commissioner for District 1, which covers Arden Hills, Gem Lake, North Oaks, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights, White Bear Township and parts of Mounds View, Spring Lake Park and Blaine.
