Bluff tops, birding and bagels hike

Join other bird enthusiasts from 8 to 10 a.m. Sept. 16 to explore Fish Creek Natural Area’s scenic vistas for songbirds and raptors riding air thermals. Learn techniques for identifying birds. Bagels and cream cheese will be provided, but remember to bring your own beverage. Binoculars will also be available or bring your own. All skill levels are welcome, but closed-toed shoes and long pants are recommended. Please meet in Maplewood at the gate on Henry Lane, just off Carver Avenue.


“Sexuality and Aging — Fact vs. Myth”

Oakdale Wellness 50+ and Discover Your Fitness presents “Sexuality and Aging — Fact vs. Myth” At this event Dr. June LaValleur and Dr. Leonardo Perez will discuss how to remain sexually healthy as we age.

Also, they will focus on a wide range of issues such as relationships and sexual activity after serious medical diagnoses. This event will be Sept. 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Oakdale Discovery Center, 444 Hadley Ave. N., Oakdale. Please register by calling 651-747-3860.

Licensed child care provider informational meeting

Washington County residents interested in becoming a licensed family child care provider in the county may take the first step and attend an orientation 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20 in Lower Level Conference Room 14 in the Washington County Government Center in Stillwater. Basic information regarding the family child care program and requirements for licensing will be discussed. 

Attendance is required at one of these meetings before a license can be issued. Use the parking on the west side and enter the Government Center building, which is at 14949 N. 62nd St. N. Call Annie Walton at 651-430-6539 to register. There is no fee for this informational meeting.
