North St. Paul Fire Department annual booya

The North St. Paul Fire Department is hosting their annual booya event Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. until the food is sold out. Bring your own kettle. The event will be located at Casey Lake Park, 2103 17th Ave. The department is also selling $10 raffle tickets. Prizes include outdoor sports equipment. All proceeds will be used to purchase new equipment for the Fire Department. The drawing will take place at 2:00 pm at the booya event.


Washington County Sheriff’s Office recognition award ceremony

The public is invited to attend the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Recognition Award Ceremony held at the Historic Courthouse in Stillwater on Oct. 5  at 6 p.m. The awards presented include Life Saving Awards, Letters of Excellence, and Exceptional Service. These awards will be presented to both employees of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and residents. Beverages and cookies will be served following the ceremony. 


Chinese brush painting class

Learn to paint natural scenes with bamboo brushes and ink Oct. 14 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. This class offered at the Oakdale Public Library will begin by discussing the properties of bamboo brushes, mark-making techniques, brush strokes and ink characteristics. Then participants will practice painting specific animals and natural subjects on rice paper. Art supplies will be provided. Registration is required due to a class limit of 20 people. Register online, at the library, or call 651-730-0504. The Oakdale Public Library is located at 1010 Heron Ave. N.
