Falcon Heights

Psyche out

An officer stopped a vehicle Nov. 6 at Larpenteur and Hamline avenues because the computer said the driver of the car had a suspended license, but it ended up a different person — presumably driving legally — was in the driver’s seat.

Stolen saw

A 24-year-old man told police Nov. 9 someone had stolen a $650 saw from his open garage in the 1400 block of California Avenue.

Lauderdale

Arrest

A 30-year-old woman was stopped Nov. 10 at Larpenteur Avenue and Fulham Street and arrested and cited for driving with a revoked license and no proof of insurance. Her insurance issue is at least somewhat chronic; she was booked at the Hennepin County Jail for an oustanding warrant from the same county for driving with no insurance.

Police arrested a 24-year-old woman Nov. 12 at Eustis Street and Como Avenue for an outstanding Anoka County warrant for giving false information to police — she was booked at the Ramsey County Jail.

Fraud

The daughter of a 73-year-old woman told police Nov. 10 that she’d noticed some $39,000 worth of unauthorized withdrawls from her mother’s bank account, as well as a line of credit taken out in her mother’s name. Police have information about a possible suspect and are investigating.

St. Anthony

Assault

A 23-year-old man told police Nov. 8 he was physically struck by an acquaintance. Police tracked the person down and she was identified as a 20-year-old woman. She was arrested and cited for fifth-degree assault and then released.

Bad roommate

A 69-year-old woman told police Nov. 8 she’d allowed an acquaintance to move in with her and stay at her place. She said she came home one day to discover her place was a mess, some of her property was missing and that the roommate had moved out.

Broken taillight

A 56-year-old man told police Nov. 7 that someone had smashed a taillight on his car as it was parked in the 2900 block of 32nd Avenue.

Broken window

A 65-year-old woman told police Nov. 6 that someone had smashed a window on her car as it was parked in the 2600 block of Kenzie Terrace and stolen papers and other items. Some of the papers turned up at a New Brighton gas station, according to New Brighton PD. It’ll cost an estimated $300 to fix the window.

Inside job

A 76-year-old woman told police Nov. 10 some of her clothing was missing from inside her house and she suspected her daughter had stolen the stuff while she was gone.

Lock your cars!

Overnight into Nov. 9 four residents reported someone had rummaged through their unlocked cars. A 50-year-old man who lives in the 3600 block of Belden Drive reported his car had been entered by someone but nothing appeared to have been taken or damaged. A 45-year-old woman who lives in the 3400 block of 33rd Avenue reported the same as the man above. A 55-year-old woman who also lives in the 3600 block of Belden Drive told police her car was entered and $10 in change was stolen. A 51-year-old woman who lives in the 3000 block of Croft Drive reported the same loss after her unlocked car was entered.

Sharpie bandit

A 70-year-old woman who lives at apartments in the 2500 block of 38th Avenue told police Nov. 6 someone, over the past couple of weeks, had been writing on her car with a marker. It’s unclear how much it’ll cost to erase everything; police may have a related case to work off.

Stolen bottle

Staff at the municipal liquor store in the 2700 block of Highway 88 caught a 55-year-old woman stealing a $3 bottle of wine; staffers told police they don’t want the woman charged, however, they want her to be arrested for trespassing the next time she comes into the store.

The writing’s on the wall

Staff at St. Anthony Village High School found a threatening message about the school scrawled on a bathroom wall Nov. 7 and reviewed security footage to see if they could figure out who did it. The school identified a 15-year-old boy as the probable culprit, police came and interviewed him and he was arrested and cited for disorderly conduct, then released to his mother.

Because of short holiday deadlines, police reports from Arden Hills, Little Canada, Mounds View, New Brighton and Shoreview were not available this week.
