Police arrest suspect in South St. Paul shooting

Police arrested a suspect in a South St. Paul shooting after the apparent victim of the shooting turned up in St. Paul and guided officers to where the shooting took place Feb. 12.

According to a press release, the South St. Paul Police Department responded to the area of Ninth Avenue South and Richmond Street West around 8:45 p.m. on a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers found evidence of a shooting but no victims. A short time later, a person was located in St. Paul with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The person was able to direct officers to the location where the shooting happend, police said.

Officers from the South St. Paul and Inver Grove Heights police departments arrested a suspect in the shooting near where it took place.

Police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to contact the South St. Paul Police Department at 651-554-3300.
