World-Wide United in Prayer Day

A world-wide event called “United in Prayer Day” is being held for Twin Cities residents at Salem Lutheran Church in West St. Paul on Saturday, March 16, from 9:15 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This one-day event, held in over 50 countries on the same day, is sponsored by Contemplative Outreach—an ecumenical network of Christian meditators who “seek to live ordinary lives with extraordinary love.” The day will highlight a video called “A Life Surrendered to Love,” featuring Thomas Keating, a Trappist priest, who helped introduce centering prayer to the world. It also includes discussion, centering prayer, community and lunch.

In his video, Keating says “God chooses the weakest sometimes to accomplish major things.  We aren’t doing anything great.  It’s the manifestation of God taking place in us.”
