Woman found dead with stab wounds in North St. Paul

North St. Paul Police found a woman dead in her apartment with “multiple wounds from a sharp instrument.”

On April 26, police went to the Cedarview Commons apartment complex on the northside of Highway 36 in the 2300 block of Ariel Street responding to a welfare check, according to a police statement.

Officers saw an untouched delivered meal at the door of the apartment in question, and no one answered the officer’s knocking.

After a maintenance person let officers in, they found 46-year-old Gabrielle Dearing dead inside, police said.

Following a tip from relatives, Dearing’s 25-year-old son was arrested by St. Paul police and booked at the Ramsey County Jail for probable cause homicide, the statement said.

On April 30, the son was released from custody with no charges.

Police say the case is still open. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension responded to the crime scene and is helping with the investigation.
