Game On! A Game Night for Adults: This event is Thursday, May 16, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Come play tabletop games with fellow game enthusiasts at Oakdale Library. The library has a collection of games like Splendor, Carcassonne, and Sagrada, or you can bring your own to share. No registration is required. STEM Saturdays: Detective Science

Join Mad Science in the crime lab at the Oakdale Library on Saturday, May 18, from 2 to 3 p.m. Discover how science is used to solve crimes. Watch as the classroom is transformed into a crime lab for this exciting exploration of the fundamentals of forensics. Take home your very own personal profile kit. High school study nights

Studying with friends is always more fun. Come to Oakdale Library’s High School Study Nights on Thursdays May 23 and 30 from 6 to 7:45 p.m., to complete your papers, study for AP tests, work on projects and more. Computers and iPad pros are available to use, which you can use to access to the library’s online homework help resources. Snack are provided on occasion; food and drinks from home are welcome. No registration is required.

Ramsey County Master Gardeners Plant Sale

Be sure to make room on your calendar for the 2019 Plant Sale hosted by the Ramsey County Master Gardeners. It is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., indoors, rain or shine. This sale is open to the public and reliably features hundreds of great plants carefully tended by expert gardeners. There will be natives and perennials for sun and shade for purchase, tomatoes, hostas, Minnesota seed trial-winning seedlings and more. The day’s sales proceeds go to support community programs that engage youth in horticulture projects and University of Minnesota scholarships. The sale will be held at The Barn, 2020 White Bear Ave. in Maplewood. 

 

North St. Paul Bluegrass Jam

The North St. Paul Bluegrass Jam, with its vintage fiddle music, is looking for new pickers. This non-electric style relies heavily on banjo, guitar, fiddle, mandolin and harmonica, and includes other styles including ‘60s pop. Bruentrup Heritage Farm Spring Clean-Up 

Grab your gloves and help us with spring cleanup at the Bruentrup Heritage Farm. You can help by raking leaves and small rocks in the farmyard or cleaning windows, walls and floors indoors. You are sure to see the fruits of your labors - and benefit your community, too. This is a great opportunity for teens and groups who love community service projects. A light lunch will be provided. Transfiguration Catholic Church Garage Sale

The sixth annual Transfiguration Catholic Church Garage Sale will be held Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, starting at 8:30 a.m. The sale will be located in the gathering space of the church. Items include electronics, toys, household goods, books, jewelry, religious items, seasonal items, kitchen items, a large array of children clothing and much more. This widely popular sale has something for everyone and at very low prices. Transfiguration Catholic Church is located at 6133 15th St. N. in Oakdale.

 

 

Oakdale support group for families

 National Alliance on Mental Illness Minnesota sponsors free support groups for families and friends of individuals living with a mental illness in Oakdale on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, starting at 6 p.m., at Canvas Health in the community room. Led by trained facilitators who also have a family member with mental illness, the support groups help families develop better coping skills and find strength through sharing their experiences. North St. Paul 50 year reunion

Senior painting group art display and expo

Gladstone Senior Center Group Painting Pals will have their art on display at the Oakdale Discovery Center through May 31. There will also be an open house watercolor painting expo May 19 starting at 1 p.m. and ending at 3 p.m.  The Oakdale Discovery Center is located at 4444 Hadley Ave. in Oakdale. American Legion Post 39 Car Show

North St. Paul American Legion Post 39 hosts its first annual Classic Car Show Sunday, May 19, from noon to 5 p.m. Registration costs $20. To register a vehicle, send a check written to American Legion Club 39 to American Legion Post 39. Include name, address, phone number or email address, and make, model, year and licence number of car. There will be winners voted by spectators. The top three finishers will receive cash awards. The lot will be open to participants at 10:30 a.m. Admission is free for spectators.

North St. Paul City-Wide Garage Sale

The City of North St. Paul is hosting a city-wide garage sale taking place on the weekend of May 16, 17 and 18.  Over 45 sales are registered with the city. The city is providing a map listing of the sales in the area, along with dates, times, and items for sale. Maps are available at City Hall, Facebook, Twitter and online at northstpaul.org/garagesale.
