NEWSBRIEF: Inver Grove Heights dog park grand opening

The City of Inver Grove Heights Parks and Recreation Department will be opening the city’s first off-leash dog park, located at the city’s new Heritage Village Park, 4321 65th Street, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55077. Residents and visitors are invited to attend the grand opening and bring their canine companion. Running from 5 to 7 p.m., June 11, a formal “leash-cutting” ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m., with remarks from Mayor George Tourville and key groups involved in the development of this new dog park
The event will have several additional activities available for attendees, including:

• IGH Police Department K9 demonstration at 5:45 p.m.

• Rabies vaccination clinic provided by Inver Grove Animal Hospital, which will cost $15 per dog 

• Purchase IGH dog park passes

• Local canine friendly vendors, including animal rescue organizations, gourmet treats for dogs, dog masseuses and local pet supply stores

•  Pup photo booth

• Free hot dog meals by Hometown Meats while supplies last

• Door prizes

Passes for the first dog will cost $20 for residents and $30 for non-residents. For a second dog, an additional charge of $15 for residents and $25 for non-residents. Proof of rabies vaccination for each dog must be provided (copy of rabies vaccination certificate) in order to purchase a dog park pass. 

Dog park passes will become effective on the evening of the grand opening and will require renewal annually. The park and off-leash dog area are closed until the grand opening event.
