Celebrating important friends

The annual Pollinator Festival, organized by the Lower Phalen Creek Project and held in the Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary, returned this year on Aug. 3. The festival celebrates pollinators and brings together organizations that support pollinator health. Attendees were able to learn about humanity’s pollen-loving friends — monarch butterflies, various types of bees and birds — and how their survival ties to food production and ecological health. The festival also included free native plants for participants to bring home to plant to help support pollinators in their own backyards, as well as indigenous dances by Wakinyan Luta Oyanke.
