The Hill-Murray girls hockey team is set to make another run at a state championship this week. The Pioneers are in the Class AA state tournament for the fifth consecutive year and sixth in program history.
Hill-Murray and White Bear Lake have long been rivals in boys hockey and have met in the section playoffs numerous times over the years. Many of those post-season meetings have come with the section championship on the line.
With the calendar changing over to February, the focus for the Bulletin-area high school girls hockey teams has also changed. The regular season wrapped up last week so now Mounds View and Irondale/St.
The playoffs have arrived for high school girls hockey in Minnesota and the teams from Hill-Murray and North/Tartan have a couple of more days to prepare for their first-round contests. The Section 4AA tournament kicks off on Feb. 11.
