Mustangs take second at section swim meet

The defending champion Mounds View Mustangs won seven of 12 events at the Section 5AA swimming and diving championship at the Minnetonka East Middle School pool on Saturday. The Mustangs had some impressive performances on the afternoon but Wayzata’s depth was too much for the locals to overcome. The Trojans won the meet with 541 points to runner-up Mounds Viewís 425.

Tough day at section quarterfinals

The road to the boys high school hockey tournament kicked off last week but the trip was a short one for Mounds View and Irondale/St. Anthony Village. Both squads lost their playoff openers on Saturday night.

Half-dozen area wrestlers going to state

The wrestling teams from Irondale and Mounds View high schools emerged from Saturday’s Section 5AAA individual tournament with three state entrants each. All six will compete starting Friday at Xcel Energy Center.

Stabbing victim's body found early Saturday morning in Maplewood park

Maplewood police responded to the area of McKnight Road and Ripley Avenue following the report of a person requiring medical attention at 4:32 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim, North St. Paul resident Anna Hurd, 16, deceased at Hillside Park.

County Road D project approved for 2013 construction season

The Roseville and Shoreview city councils voted to move forward with reconstruction plans on a half-mile stretch of County Road D between Lexington Avenue and Victoria Street.
