New Brighton seminary gets approval to rent out space for K-8 school


United Theological Seminary in New Brighton has received permission from the city to lease space out to be used as a K-8 school, though as of yet UTS does not have a tenant.

Seminary campuses are typically home to calm, studious adults working towards a master’s of divinity — many aiming to become church leaders.

Roseville names assistant city manager


Rebecca Olson

Roseville has named its first assistant city manager in some 15 years. 

Rebecca Olson started in the position May 8. The position was recreated in order to take over some of City Manager Pat Trudgeon’s day-to-day managerial duties.

Roseville to take up ‘separation ordinance’ in coming months


Imagine Roseville panelist, immigration attorney and Lauderdale City Council member Kelly Dolphin discussed cities’ roles in immigration enforcement and “separation ordinances” at the May 3 event. A separation ordinance puts into city code a city’s policy of not assisting the federal government in enforcing immigration policy.

Move follows dual events on immigration policy

Some 200 people showed up in intervals during a 24-hour vigil that started at Nativity Lutheran Church in support of the Lowry Grove manufactured housing community in St. Anthony Village.

Release the goats!


Goats were released into Indian Mounds Regional Park on May 2 to help graze away the invasive plant species in the park. The effort is a part of a partnership between St. Paul Natural Resources and the Great River Passage to restore foliage along the Mississippi River to the original, native plants.

Indian Mounds Regional Park has some new, friendly workers​

St. Paul has hired some 30 to 40 new employees — a flock of goats.

Retired sports editor Wally Wakefield dies at age 86


Wally Wakefield

Wallace (Wally) P. Wakefield, a longtime sports writer for Lillie Suburban Newspapers, passed away unexpectedly in his home May 2. He was 86 years old.
