At present, the price of four-year degrees from Minnesota's colleges and universities continues to rise ever higher - costing more than $15,000 a year at the University of Minnesota at present.

Judge denies Beecroft post-conviction hearing
A new trial request from Nicole Beecroft, the now 21-year-old convicted of first-degree murder for the death of her newborn baby in 2007, was denied July 20.
Washington County District Judge Mary E. Hannon, who presided over Beecroft's murder trial, handed down the order denying the motion for a new trial.

In case you haven't seen it yet, this is the year to visit Como Park Zoo and Conservatory's Blooming Butterflies exhibit.
That's because it's the exhibit's third and final year, and it may well be a long while until the dozens of butterfly species from Africa, Asia and the Americas yet again grace St. Paul's borders.

Family center needs new parent
Once seen as a natural fit to complement the mission of the East Side Neighborhood Development Company, the East Side Family Center's programming was folded into ESNDC's mission back in 2003, when the Payne-Phalen Community Development Corporation became fiscal agent and parent of the family-focused nonprofit.

But that partnership may well be coming to an end.

Nature, creeping up where you least expect it
