County rolls out mounted deputy program

Lowry Grove closes


Lowry Grove, in St. Anthony but bordering Minneapolis, is now closed. The land’s owner, The Village, plans to redevelop the site. Jesse Poole

After some 70 years of operation, Lowry Grove, once home to about 90 households, is now empty.

Residents of St. Anthony Village’s only mobile home park had to vacate the property by the end of the day, June 30.

Legislature approves funding for new Rice bridge over I-694


Area elected officials have long sought to replace the outdated Rice Street bridge over Interstate 694. With state funding now secured, work to rebuild the interchange could begin as soon as late 2018. Mike Munzenrider

The new East Side-grown social club, the TAP, provides a space for those with disability labels to shed those labels and socialize in an environment without judgement. Roseville/Bulletin People: July 2, 2017


RAHS Class of 2017 graduates Sam Hamerski and Maia Peterson, coached by Bret Hemmerlin, competed in Duo Interpretation and earned third place after 13 rounds and four days of competition. They performed their final round at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Center to a crowd of more than 4,000 people. The NSDA Nationals was their second national finalist finish this year, the first being the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions in May where they earned fourth place. Sophomore Vakare Bartkaitis, coached by Jessica Fedje, advanced to the quarterfinals (top 30, eight rounds) in Humorous Interpretation, her qualifying event. After not advancing to the semifinals, she competed in Storytelling, a consolation event, and performed an additional six rounds before earning fourth place out of more than 300 contestants. She, like Sam and Maia, is a national finalist. Sophomore Jason Sobieck, coached by Hemmerlin, advanced to the octofinals (top 60, six rounds) in Dramatic Interpretation, his qualifying event. Dramatic Interpretation had nearly 300 entries in it this year.

Roseville Area High School received a 2017 School of Excellence award due to the success of RAHS students during the National Speech & Debate Association Nationals competition June 18-23 in Alabama.

North St. Paul man dies in Pine County ATV accident

A North St. Paul man died the morning of June 24 when he lost control of the ATV he was riding, flipping it multiple times. A woman riding with him was also injured and was airlifted to a hospital.

Burglary

Someone broke into a storage shed in the 1200 block of Amble Road June 25. It’s unclear if anything was taken.
