New roundabout coming to Inver Grove Heights next year


The roundabout at Highway 3 and 70th Street will shift the intersection slightly from where it currently sits. Work is slated to begin in a year.

 

Though sometimes a hot-button traffic control issue, no residents spoke for or against a proposed roundabout in Inver Grove Heights at the city council’s May 8 meeting.

Orchard planted at Village on Rivoli funded by $50,000 Super Bowl grant


Volunteers from Pentair, Urban Roots and City Academy planted some 60 fruit trees May 9, creating an orchard at the Village on Rivoli housing development. The orchard was paid for with a $50,000 grant from the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee.

 

The Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee awarded Dayton’s Bluff Neighborhood Housing Services a $50,000 grant to create a long-dreamed-about orchard at the Village on Rivoli housing development.

A bit of community elbow grease


Near the end of construction, Community of Peace second graders came out to say thank you to the volunteers.

Community volunteers came together on April 28 to help construct a new playground at the Community of Peace school, a pre-k through twelfth-grade charter school. About 300 volunteers were swarming like bees at the lot at 421 Magnolia Ave. E.

St. Joseph’s in West St. Paul says goodbye to three longtime teachers


Diana Ostrowski, Carol Day and Nancy Gagliardi have all taught at St. Joseph’s since the 1970s. The group of three friends will be hanging up their teaching hats at the end of the school year.

On the last day of school at St. Joseph’s Catholic School, the final bell will not only mark the beginning of summer but also the end of an era. At the end of this school year three longtime faculty members will retire.
